ROGERS EXPLORER
The Rogers Explorers program is an intensive three-day, two-night program focused on cultivating skills in leadership, technology, math, science, and community service. It is developed, coordinated, and supervised by The Center for Rural Development in partnership with University of the Cumberlands, Lindsey Wilson College, Eastern Kentucky University, Morehead State University, University of Pikeville, and Union College.
Activities throughout the program are both educational and fun. Classroom projects are very hands-on, so do not expect to be bored! Explorers are able to actively participate in practical college courses, fine-tune leadership skills, and develop a network of friends and resources throughout our Southern and Eastern Kentucky region. Students from The Center’s 45-county service area may apply during their eighth-grade year.
If selected, they will attend the program in Williamsburg, Columbia, Richmond, Morehead, Pikeville, or Barbourville during the summer before their ninth-grade year. All lodging, meals, and program expenses (with the exception of transportation to and from the program) are offered at no cost.
Applications are now being accepted using the following link. No applications will be accepted after January 31.

Influenza is on the rise & school is about to be back in session. Don’t forget about your IN SCHOOL “doctor’s office”- UK King’s Daughters School Health Program.
If your child is feeling sick, we do rapid swabs for Influenza A & B, with results in 10 minutes. Your child can be seen while at school or you can bring them to their respective school to be seen if they are unable to attend school. Your child will see our APRN and prescriptions, if needed, will be sent to your preferred pharmacy. We also provide school excuses for patients. We offer these same services to Magoffin Co. School staff. In addition to flu swabs, we are also able to perform rapid testing for Strep, COVID, and Mono. We see patients Monday-Friday, during school hours.
Call: 606-474-1925 to get scheduled.
Feel free to reach out/comment with any questions.
